Specks of mud retrieved by a Japanese area probe from an asteroid some 300 million kilometres from Earth have revealed a shocking part: a drop of water, scientists stated Friday. The discovery presents new help for the idea that life on Earth was seeded from outer area.
The findings are within the newest analysis to be printed from the evaluation of 5.four grams of rocks and dirt gathered by the Hayabusa-2 probe from the asteroid Ryugu.
“This drop of water has great meaning,” lead scientist Tomoki Nakamura of Tohoku University informed reporters forward of the analysis’s publication within the journal Science on Friday.
“Many researchers believe that water was brought (from outer space) but we actually discovered water in Ryugu, an asteroid near Earth, for the first time.”
