Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, more popularly recognised by the alias of Dr DisRespect in the gaming world, has been served a permanent ban on Amazon’s video game streaming platform Twitch, as per a report by Forbes. Here is what streaming and esports insider Rod Breslau said on Twitter about the ban.
This is the second ban on Dr DisRespect, also referred to as The Doc by his fellow game streamers, and it happens to be permanent. The reason behind the ban isn’t clear yet, with Twitch saying in a statement that it has taken “appropriate action”.
Twitch gave a statement to CNN’s Shannon Liao about the ban on the streamer, which runs: “As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”
But how exactly did The Doc misbehave so as to violate the policies and guidelines of Twitch? And what evidence caused the permanent ban? It has not been made clear by Twitch. The first time Dr Disrespect got banned, it was because he recorded from inside the bathroom at the Los Angeles Convention Center while E3 was going on. But that was a temporary ban. This is not. The streamer’s Twitch account has also been suspended. There have been no tweets from Dr Disrespect. The last tweet by him was on June 25.
